Domaine Le Fay d’Homme Muscadet 2011

Chris Brockway is a genius artist that happens to produce exciting and profound wines from across California. He has an innate ability to produce striking wines that are balanced, poised, beautiful, and charming. Working with Tim Elenteny of TE Imports, Chris has introduced the first vintage of Brea Cabernet from the Margarita Vineyard in Paso Robles. While the Brea label is brand new, this isn't the first time Chris has worked with fruit from this special vineyard; Chris previously made the Broadside Cabernet. It was a silky balanced Cab that had tons of classic underpinnings that was also delicate and elegant. The Brea is exactly the same thing!

In Chris' words: "Here's our first vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon from Margarita Vineyard in southern Paso Robles. Margarita Vineyard is a beautiful off-the-beaten path jewel in Paso. It is located at 1000 ft elevation and 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean. Some people may consider this area in California to be "too cool" to fully ripen Cabernet, but we believe it to be the opposite."

A little about Chris: Chris Brockway makes fantastic natural wines in his Berkeley-based urban winery. He utilizes low-intervention winemaking methods and sources fruit from sustainably and organically farmed fruit from lesser-known vineyards all over California. In the winery, he uses low-tech equipment and very little or no SO2 until bottling. Brockway produces stylistically different wines under several labels, including Broc Cellars, Broadside, and Brea.

At Town, we believe that our customers deserve the best wines we can find at any price point. The Brea is such a wine. It is an adventure into a little known Cabernet Vineyard that is producing exceptional fruit. With Chris at the helm, the wine is delicious. We are excited for the future of this project like few we come across.

Blend: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon/20% Cabernet Franc/5% Petite Verdot

"The maritime climate affords us a longer growing season to help ripen the Cabernet without it being overly ripe. This is a very feminine expression of California Cabernet, with mild tannins in the background from the small berries.

There is also a mineral core to this wine, a common thread that you'll find in many of the wines from this vineyard, which makes it so unique. It also helps that due to the uplifted seabed and calcareous nature of this vineyard helps to maintain a good balanced acidity in the wine." -Winery notes
